Monthly Ooops

100,000 experience, 36 Wubs kills, and roughly 120ish salvages remain until I get my monthly achievement. Holy cow on a launcher, batman! *speaking of, why the hell is that not an achievement? I would stand there all day if needs be to get that one* How the heck can I get all of these done in a night?

As most of you know the weekends here at Trippin Tyria are quiet. I go to my hunny's to get snuggles but his interwebs out there are just horrid. Barely enough 3G to run my IPhone, much less play any kind of meaningful online game. So I have tonight and some of Sunday to pound this out.

For the experience, I was thinking of taking one of my crafting professions to level 400. That requires planning and a very very very good day on the TP. *crosses fingers* It may not take getting to max level to get the 100k. Will sooo keep everyone informed on this.

The Wubs? *sigh* Buckle up, buttercups! Sia will enter the fray once more. This time with more knowledge and some fine kiting skills!

Salvages? You know, that should be easy...but I never liked salvaging in GW. It seemed silly to destroy a perfectly good weapon or piece of armor just to get a scrap of wood or cloth. That may be the cheapskate in me. So I will buckle down, buy some of that wonderful 2 copper items in the TP and rip away.

Anyone else missing stuff for their monthly?

  1. I just got my monthly last weekend. They fixed the 100k xp bug that reset it when zoning, so it was much easier to get (especially as I'm up to the low 60's and XP starts rolling in pretty quick).

The problem I had was in WvW. Playing a support Guardian made it nearly impossible to get kill credit, and even respeccing made it difficult since I'm not so good in the PvP's...

I ended up sitting on an arrow cart on a wall that was under constant attack to get my 60 WvW kills and then quickly ran away.

Oh, and I was severely disappointed in what I got for the monthly achievement. 20 Mystic coins and a little bit of coin. Hope you get better!

    1. Thank you for the info! Since I have all 8 of my toons sitting pretty at lev. 20 the higher levels for exp are out of the question. Unless I end up hitting a Zerg.

Other than the lack of kill credit, how was the Guardian in Pvp?

The mystic coin reward will be ok. I am currently stockpiling them for the Dreamer, so that I don't mind. But if they give me a 1 copper reward like they did when I 100% the cities...well color me pissed.

    2. Tip for WvW kill credit as a support guardian: run around in a zerg with a staff. Tag everyone with 2-3 wide cone blasts of the autoattack. I hit for about 500hp a blast, 800 if it crits, and they say you only need about 1k damage dealt for it to count, or thereabouts.

Siege weapons like arrow carts are also good.

    3. Quick question - Eternal battlegrounds, or the server instance? Because last nights server grounds were very very dry...*blush* I only got in one kill...

    4. Eh, a lot of this is going to depend on your server and the timezones you and the main bulk of people play in.

Could be due to people not fighting since the weekly server reset was almost on us. (It's reset now, so fighting should be pretty heavy over the weekend for most everybody.)

Map-wise, I don't think it'll matter to you at this point. It's good to be familiar with both maps anyway. I'd just go where some crossed swords are and see if there's enough friendlies around.

Just don't get sucked into hurling yourself fruitlessly at a siege-defended keep without siege of your own, that usually achieves the opposite of getting WvW kills. :) Defend with siege or AoE, or run around to zerg supply camps and clash with zergs.

  2. I have a ton of stuff to get done for it. Heck, I haven't even started with WvWvW yet! But I am not too worried about it either. Right now my priorities are still to explore the other parts of the game, get a better grasp of a few things like crafting, dungeon tactics ,etc. and then I will worry about achievements. :)

    1. I haven't done anything spectacular to get it, with the exception of last night *grin* Posting pics in a min.
But I hear you, I keep telling my guild I am going low and slow. I want to enjoy playing and not have to worry about rushing to 80.

  3. I'm just trying to get used to people keeping us updated on when they get their monthlies.

    1. *gigglesnorthahahahaha* I read this last night at 3am and woke up my dog. One does not simply wake a sleeping dog...not my big ole scardy cat of a mutt. Hilarious!

Btw - did you get your blog and stuff fixed?

    2. Not broken. I had a farewell post up for a few days (to blogging, not the game of course.) I was getting too caught up in worrying about others' perceptions and decided I wanted to enjoy the game in a bubble...excepting a handful of blogs I'll continue to follow. Maintaining my own blog was taking away from play time, and I decided I needed to focus more on my officer duties.
